Find answers to common questions about our borehole drilling services, processes, and costs.

General Questions

What services does SouthWest Drilling Company offer?

We provide a comprehensive range of water solutions including professional Borehole Drilling, Hydrogeological Surveys, Pump Installations, and ongoing Maintenance services for residential, commercial, and agricultural clients.

Which areas in Kenya do you serve?

We are based in Vihiga, Kenya, and proudly serve all regions in Kenya. Please contact us to confirm your specific location.

The Drilling Process

How long does it take to drill a borehole?

The drilling time can vary depending on the depth of the well and the geological conditions of the site. On average, the actual drilling can take anywhere from 2 to 5 days. The entire process, including the survey and pump installation, may take longer.

Do I need a permit to drill a borehole?

Yes, in Kenya, you are required to have the necessary permits from the Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA). We can guide you through the application process to ensure all legal requirements are met before we begin drilling.

What happens if you don't find water?

While this is very rare, it is a possibility. To minimize this risk, we strongly recommend a professional hydrogeological survey before drilling. Our high success rate is built on conducting these scientific surveys to identify viable water sources first.

Pumps & Maintenance

What kind of pump do I need for my borehole?

The type of pump depends on the depth of your borehole, the amount of water it yields, and your specific water needs (e.g., household use, irrigation). Our team will assess these factors and recommend the most suitable and efficient pump for your system.

How often should I have my borehole serviced?

We recommend a routine maintenance check at least once every 2 years. Regular servicing helps prevent costly breakdowns, ensures water quality, and prolongs the life of your pump and equipment.

Cost & Quotations

How much does it cost to drill a borehole?

The cost of a borehole is not one-size-fits-all. It depends on several factors, including the required depth, site accessibility, geological formation, and the type of pump installed. We cannot give a flat rate without understanding these details.

How can I get an accurate quote?

The best way to get an accurate quote is to contact us directly. We will provide a free initial consultation to discuss your needs, and for the most precise costing, we will recommend a site visit and hydrogeological survey.
